A woman was hospitalized after being struck by a jeep while crossing Washington Street.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Washington and St. Felix streets.
Lt. Robbie Rudder said the pedestrian disregarded the no crossing sign and walked into traffic. CareFlite was initially called but it was canceled and she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The victim reportedly had serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The speed limit for the area where the accident occurred is 40 mph. Rudder said the driver of the jeep reported having the sun in her eyes.
The driver will not face any charges.
