It’s back to school time, and Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds shoppers the annual sales tax holiday is scheduled for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 11th through 13th. The law exempts sales taxes on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced less than $100, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend over the course of the weekend. Lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptroller’s website at TexasTaxHoliday.org. Shoppers are expected to save an estimated $87 million during the holiday, an annual event since 1999.
