Tarleton State University will unveil a bronze statue of Major General James Earl Rudder at 4pm Thursday, October 19th. The American hero who became president of Texas A&M University and chancellor of The A&M University System, returns to his alma mater as part of the centennial celebration of Tarleton a founding member of that system. Rudder started at Tarleton in 1927 and graduated from Texas A&M. He returned in 1938 as a teacher and head football coach, then one year as athletic director before being called to active military service during World War II.
