Tarleton State University’s Choral Program will present its first concert of the fall semester, entitled America: Music of History and Aspiration, this Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Theater. The 7:30 p.m. concert is open to the public and tickets are $5, or free for Tarleton faculty, staff and students with a valid ID.
The choirs, under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson, will perform music of the past, including the Star Spangled Banner as well as new music that draws on and extends tradition. Among the newer selections, Kevin Memley’s setting of Emma Lazarus’ A New Colossus (“Give me your tired, your poor…”) is the centerpiece.
