Stephenville Fire Chief Jimmy Chew has been named Fire Chief of the Year.
The longtime firefighter received the extraordinary honor Monday from the Texas Fire Chiefs Association. Chew received the award during the organization’s annual conference and business meeting in Galveston.
Chew said it was the biggest surprise of his life. The Chief has been in the fire service for 46 years. He joined the Stephenville Fire Department in 1970 and has served as fire chief since 2004. He also serves on the board of directors of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association. Chew’s wife Betty was with him when he was presented with the award. She said she’s really proud of him, as are the people of Stephenville.
