Stephenville ISD’s board of trustees will meet this afternoon to review a high school drug testing policy.
If approved, the policy would apply to all SHS students involved in extracurricular activities.
The written policy states that since drug use can increase the risk of injury to those participating in school-sponsored extracurricular activities, and since these students are often role models for other students, the district would require high school students who participate to undergo random drug testing.
Any other student not involved in these activities, but who wishes to participate in the drug testing program, may voluntarily do so.
Parental consent for random drug testing would be required for any extracurricular activity.
