The Stephenville ISD board of trustees approved the drug testing policy at Monday’s meeting that will go into effect for Stephenville High School students who are involved in extracurricular activities.
The policy was designed to promote a drug-free student body using a positive and proactive approach.
The Stephenville ISD program is academically non-punitive. however, it is designed to teach self-responsibility and that there are consequences for misbehavior.
The substances that the district will test for include, amphetamines/methamphetamines, barbiturates, cannabinoids/marijuana, inhalants/abusable volatile chemicals, PCP, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methaqualone, opiates, propoxyphene and alcohol.
Some adjustments will be made to the policy before it is released to parents.
