Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf spoke about his personal experiences with substance abuse at a Touchstone Ranch Recovery event held at Cowboy Church of Erath County last week. Leaf explained how his behavior as a teenager fed into his drug addiction, eventually ending his professional career.
Leaf played in the NFL from 1998 to 2002 for the San Diego Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.
At Washington State University, he won the Heisman Trophy and said you can see the manipulation, bad judgment and fear that go along with being an addict in his behavior.
Leaf was the second pick in the 1998 NFL draft, following retired quarterback, Peyton Manning.
