In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Tarleton’s nursing program, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Charles Leigon made a gift to provide financial assistance for the university’s students.
Ninety percent of the funds from the eventual sale of deeded farmland near Morgan Mill— expected to be more than a half million dollars—will provide scholarships to nursing students. 10 percent will benefit students enrolled in Tarleton’s College of Liberal and Fine Arts.
Russell Leigon, who said his 97-year-old father is genuinely concerned about the education of young people, especially those who can’t afford to attend college. The retired Colonel currently lives in Austin.
