With the holidays approaching, Tarleton State University’s Staff Council is planning its 23rd Annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Showcase to support local businesses and artisans on Friday, Dec. 2.
Hosted in the Thompson Student Center on the Stephenville campus, the showcase is open to shoppers from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. More than 60 vendors will sell a variety of arts, crafts and tasty treats.
According to Ashley Ayers, chair of Tarleton Staff Council’s Holiday Showcase committee, holiday shoppers will find everything from woodcrafts to handmade craft items, food, clothing, jewelry, vinyl decals, wreaths, books and art. There will be plenty of unique gifts to help complete your holiday shopping list.
Jessica Curry and her husband Kip are making Stephenville a whole lot sweeter They worked for months at night and on weekends to design their new bakery, Sweetenville, and in October it became a reality.
Being a full-time baker was Jessica’s lifelong dream and catering to the TSU crowd was an important part of that idea. Now she’s living it, loving it and business is brisk.
Jessica said when she and her husband started talking about a location, Kip asked where she thought it should be. She said she wanted to be able to look out the front window and see the Tarleton gates.
They were skeptical that such prime real estate would come open, but about a week later she saw the signs that the place was available. And now, she says “here we are.”
