Brownwood will start building the first of three splash pads in late July. The City Council approved an agreement Tuesday with Vortex for the design and construction of the splash pads, which will be built at Alcorn, Mayes and Trigg parks. The $550,000 cost will be covered using funds from the 2016 Certificate of Obligation. Construction is scheduled to begin July 31.

In a letter of resignation presented at Monday’s Bangs City Council meeting, Emergency Manager Coordinator Leo Smith stated he has

“lost all confidence with your current council due to the fact that current Mayor Pro Tem Carrol Wells shows absolutely no respect for law enforcement and authority.” [end quote] Smith has served in that unpaid role for the last six and a half years. Wells lost her bid for Bangs mayor on Saturday by 17 votes.
