Local hunter Cody Gray bagged the biggest cat he’d ever seen from a deer hunting blind a private ranch near Pandale recently, with one clean shot to the chest just behind his right front leg.
He says people who have seen the monster mountain lion estimate he weighs at least 160 pounds or more.
That’s a big cat, and according to statistics at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, mountain lions range in size from 70 to 170 pounds.
Gray said a trail cam from the ranch caught him moving in the brush not far behind him, but a doe and two fauns out in the draw got his attention, instead of Gray.
