Shortly after noon on Friday, the Empire-Tribune confirmed the rumor that Huckabay ISD Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Floyd would be resigning.
Floyd has not responded to numerous requests for comment, but an individual close to the school district who spoke to the paper on condition of anonimity mentioned the recent failure of two bond election issues as the possible reason behind Floyd’s decision.
He said things got personal during the bond election and there were a lot of unnecessary attacks.
The SISD board will now meet with the Texas Association of School Boards to begin the search for a new superintendent.
Floyd’s last day with the district is Aug. 31.
