Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant is reportedly under investigation by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Sgt. Stan Roper at TCOLE confirmed to the Empire Tribune that an active investigation is underway. Roper said the investigation began in June and was turned over to him in October. He told the E-T that most of his cases involve training and licensing fraud. An unconfirmed report suggests that a former deputy completed Bryant’s annual training.
Roper said he has interviewed “several people” in connection with this case, including Sheriff Bryant, who knows there’s an investigation, according to Sgt. Roper.
Bryant disputed that claim by the TCOLE investigator, saying early Tuesday morning that he is unaware of any investigation.
