Early voting began in earnest on Monday, and the Empire Tribune reports Joyce Whitis was one of several hundred residents who took part.
She arrived at the Erath County Courthouse about 8:30 a.m. to find a long line of eager voters, for what she called the most important voter she ever made.
As early voting across Texas got underway, counties across Texas reported a high voter turnout.
Texas has set a record for statewide registered voters at more than 15 million, meaning that nearly 78 percent of the state’s voting age population of 19.3 million has registered.
Erath County Clerk Gwinda Jones said that by 1 p.m., the Erath County Courthouse had 564 votes cast.
