The Dallas Stars have become the first pro sports franchise in Texas to officially oppose the controversial “bathroom bill.” The Stars are “strongly opposed to any legislation perceived as discriminatory, according to a statement by team president Jim Lites. The NHL team joins the NFL and NBA, along with dozens of powerful businesses opposed to the measure requiring transgender Texans to use public restrooms corresponding to the gender on their birth certificates. Greg Abbott convened a special session to revive the bill– but it appears unlikely to pass before the session ends next week.
